The waiters were all French and gorgeous and very attentive. The staff were polite, helpful, attentive and cheerful. worth trying. Sitting adjacent to Le Bouchon Brasserie & Hotel is the beautiful 14 mile Chelmer and Blackwater navigation canal which opened in 1797 and flows from Springfield Basin in Chelmsford to the sea lock at Heybridge Basin near Maldon. They gave us a yummy sole cooked deliciously. My meal (pictured) was amazing. One thing I will say is that the service is outstanding. The renovation period lasted in excess of 2 years, working many hours to create the right feel and ambience within this wonderful building, combining some of the original period features with furnishings and classically styled decoration that complements the building.

Pino Noir with a plate of cheese and "cafe gourmand" to finish (like in Paris!) For mains I couldn’t go past the duck a l’orange which was amazing, I do wish there was more spinach on the plate, it was so good tho the ratio was a little off compared to the sick and potato, a little harsh I know but I loved the spinach so much I think I just wanted more:)

Gorgeous setting that makes you feel like you are in Paris!
The food is amazing and really affordable considering the high quality of the meals. Le Bouchon is a grade II listed, 300 year old Georgian building which has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme restoring the building to its former glory.
They did not charge us for our 2 desserts as compensation (and we gave them a big tip to help the economy ).More, This is the version of our website addressed to speakers of English in the United States. Guests can enjoy a relaxing walk on the riverbank, take a riverboat cruise and sample some of the local ales from one of the many riverside public houses or hire a canoe or small boat and take in the peace and tranquility of the natural surroundings of the Beeleigh weir and the many locks along the channel.
I would order this for sure next time and I was glad I got to try it:) I’m happy I decided to try:)

We had duck breast and lamb rump respectively, both very tasty. However, under certain circumstances, we also deliver wines from our stateside warehouse our distribution partners. We rank these hotels, restaurants, and attractions by balancing reviews from our members with how close they are to this location. We stand behind each of the wines that we import and are sure that you will, too.
The meal was very good, the portions not large but adequate and the food of high quality. I’m happy I decided to try:) The cheeses and wines were all delicious, but it’s not cheap so for that price I’d expect a friendlier welcome and better service.

As often as I “challenge” my servers with something to satisfy my palate, there are those like the one I had at Le Bouchon …
The sautéed calves liver was beautifully tender and their Ile flotante desert was the best I have had since I lived in France. We ordered beef fillet for 2 ( =Chateaubriand )medium rare, it came out charcoal burnt on the outside and was...overcooked inside. There is a good selection of wines of course - the Carmenere was good, as was the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Silvana Molino - Bergadano / Franco Molino. The bread was crunchy and soft and just the way the French know how to do so well. Can a vegetarian person get a good meal at this restaurant? What a great place.
However we are pescatarians so asked kindly to provide something else besides the yummy duck I so much used to enjoy from there.
