That one still looks great after comparable mileage.I believe the one I bought here was old and/or not stored properly.
The Pasela has a thicker tread than the Elk Pass, and weighs 60 to 80 grams more (240-260 versus ~180), but the sidewalls deteriorate quickly, and the tread, although deeper, is fragile — I scraped off a 2″ strip when a falling saddlebag jammed my rear tire at the bottom of a hill; only about 25-28 mph, since this was a fixed gear bike.
The largest is 700x37. Black/Tan sidewall. Having had racing tires with no center sipes and little on the edges, I can say these have slightly greater rolling resistance and are a little noisier. This is a great training tire or entry-level racer. The tread pattern for this tire (700x35) is not the same - it is the standard tread pattern for the narrower tires such as the 700x28 (http://www.amazon.com/Panaracer-Pasela-Bicycle-Tire-Brown/dp/B0010VZGKC/ref=pd_sim_sg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0AD059DWQSDSYTBGJ830). UPDATE: I've now had these tires for about a year, and they've already gotten so dry-rotted that they failed catastrophically. Value Rating. There's a problem loading this menu right now. I've used these tires on a number of bikes in a number of sizes. The tread also got lots of cuts compared to other similar tires. They provide that tell tale "singing" of a good tire. the ride was comfortable but all the sportiness was gone.

Very affordable tires. These have been my go-to tires for our tandem for decades. 700x28 for general riding and 700x32 when we load up the panniers. Its comprehensive size range insures that you can find a Pasela for most any usage. I like having the gum walls for that vintage look. The picture shown above is the tread pattern for that tire.

If someone has a tip, I'd like to hear it. It doesn't matter terribly, just be aware of that. I also had to use a bigger tube 700X28/42C (27X1 1/4) to accommodate the older single wall rim design. they felt like they were not round with a pronounced low spot ....ugh... then the tires made my bike feel like a Buick. Smooth ride on paved ways and nice rolling on packed gravel. Great tandem tire. Already have an account with us? Good for the price... Be aware that these Paselas don't have any flat/puncture protection.
So, I went with the 1" Paselas, and that's exactly what they measure at 100PSI.
